Fuel System - Part 2

The stock Birkin fuel filler is pretty naff, and by all reports it leaks when the fuel sloshes about the tank when its full. One of the first extra parts I purchased when I got the kit was an Aero style lockable filler and cap. Its brushed satin aluminum, and has an unleaded fuel flap inside which is needed for ADR.  I have only just fitted it now as I needed to replace the filler hose with a flexible one, and the fuel tank needed to be in its final position and strapped down. To fit it, I needed to expand the size of the hole in the body to about 64mm diameter. Looks pretty cool!

  1. Hi Scott,
The fuel cap looks great, where abouts did you pick that up from?

  2. Hi Phil,
The Aero cap came from CBS Online in the UK. I had it added to an order with all the dash lights and switches. It is brushed alloy and has an optional ULP flap. The original Birkin one leaks and this one looks great as well. Cost was under $150. We have also bought a black one for another Birkin. The black one would look great on your white shell with the black wheels.

  3. Black is exactly what I was thinking. Might have to investigate it a bit further as I need some dasH switches aswell. What size did you go with?

  4. Hi Phil,

This is the Aero cap link http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/94mm_Locking_Aero_Fuel_Cap_Assembly_Black_AERO3B. I used a 51mm flexible hose on this to the tank.

My switchgear for lights, wipers, hazard and demister were these ones http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/IVA_Rocker_Switch_2_Speed_Wiper_RSVAWIP

The Birkin dash was already cut to fit this size. I will dig out the photo of the black Aero cap fitted to another Birkin and send you a PM on OzClubbies

    cheers

    Scott
